Can your child reach?
A solid green powder-coated fireman's pole with a total length of 2500mm and a tube diameter of 38mm. The bottom of the pole should be mounted into a hole around 15cm in diameter and 20+cm deep which is then filled with postcrete (not as difficult as it sounds!) If you want to go a little deeper then filling back with soil is acceptable.
You can see in the photo that to attach the mounting plate we attach a beam around 65x35mm to the climbing frame and bolt the pole to this beam using two 30mm coach screws. The spacing of the holes in the mounting plate needs an upright at least 100mm wide to be secure and often using an upright leaves the pole in an awkward position to be used easily.
Keep in mind that the pole stands about 55cm out from the frame - will your child have enough reach to be able to comfortably grip the pole and slide down? In general 5 yr olds and greater can cope.
