I designed the Black Pearl not just for Wealthy Footballers and Bored Housewives but also for Schools, Children's Centres, Families, Nurseries, Garden Centres and Pubs as a way of developing imagination, social skills, inter-activity and sheer fun. Everyone can get in on the act, dad, kids next door of all ages, friends from school. The design and features are unique and there is no other ship like it available ANYWHERE in the world!

Named after the Brigateen built in the US in 1948, The Black Pearl was created from the very beginning to stimulate every child's (and adults!) imagination. The whole unit has been designed to fuuly meet Commercial EN71 specifications, which means it is safe for schools and public places.

Dimensions:

7.9m (25ft 10") from bow to stern. Front and rear decks 1.8m (6ft) high with approved safety rails. The mid deck is 1.5m (5ft) high. Deck width is 1.5m (5ft) with an overall width including the two rear climbing nets and Ball Buoy of 4.33m (14ft 2")

* Two wooden bunks in the rear cabin approx 1.8m (5ft) long by 60cm (23") wide

* Stainless Steel or Fibreglass commercial slide

* Non-slip waterproof flooring on both the upper and lower decks.

* Internal ladder from the lower to the upper deck.

* Protective handrails around the ladder hatchway.

* Integral pistol / rifle lookouts between the middle deck and the stern and bow decks.

* Central 100 x 100 mast complete with pirate flag

* "Prison area" in the bow

* Lookout ports on the right & left of the bow complete with periscopes

* Heavily reinforced roof sections in the bow and stern for strength and rigidity.

* Three !!! rock climbing walls for boarding or escaping the bow and middle decks

* Ground floor entrance into the hull plus ladder access to the middle deck

* Twin portholes in the rear cabin opposite the bunk beds

* STEEL cabled climbing nets on either side of the stern AS WELL AS a central steel cabled boarding net to the stern of the ship.

* 2.5m high (8ft 4") Rock Climbing Walls on either side of the stern

* Ships Wheel mounted on the central mast

* Telescopes fore & aft

* Steel powder-coated ladder for quick external deck access

* Swinging Ball Buoy

The ship was designed with both home or commercial use in mind. Strength is integral, with the front and rear decks in tension. All main fastening is by 10 & 12mm bolts. Frame timbers are generally 90mm x 90mm and all timber is pressure-treated to current European safety standards. Although this Activity Centre looks complicated, it has actually been designed as a DIY project. Some of the vertical members will require digging in and post-creting but by designing the frame to exist in tension the structure does not rely on large amounts of concrete to give it stability.

BUILD TIME:

A difficult one! We estimate that two persons could assemble the ship in about 3 days depending on your level of skill and availability of tools. Climbing-Frames-etc are able to offer a build service, please enquire if you are interested. (After all, we designed it from scratch and have a full working knowledge of every step needed).

DELIVERY COST:

We will add an extra £180 as delivery charge but this may change depending on your distance from Oxford. There are a lot of carefully manufactured pieces of timber which have to be delivered to you in the same state and quantity as left the factory in Belgium. If you live further than 120 miles away from Oxford freight may be more; we do not make any profit from freight but charge at cost only.

DELIVERY TIME:

As the Black Pearl is made to order allow 6-8 weeks (depending on the time of year) for delivery. In Spring and early Summer this may be more. There are an aweful lot of parts to cut, drill and pressure-treat!

I can accept payment via credit card, PayPal, personal cheque or bank transfer (at buyers expense). Payment MUST be within 3 days of the sale. Please note that goods will not be actioned for manufacture until cleared funds are in our account (which could be up to 5 working days for cheques). Please Note Climbing-frames-etc is an authorised agent for these products. Your product will be delivered to you direct from the manufacturer or main UK supplier.

DELIVERY TIME & RETURNS:

AS THIS PRODUCT IS MADE TO ORDER, ALLOW AT LEAST 8 WEEKS FOR DELIVERY. ONCE ORDERED AND PAID FOR CANCELLATION WILL INCUR A PENALTY OF 80% OF THE PRICE OF THE UNIT. SIMILARLY ONCE DELIVERED TO SITE THE PRODUCT CANNOT BE RETURNED AND REFUNDED, HOWEVER WE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY SHORTFALLS, CARRIER DAMAGE OR FAULTY MATERIALS.
